James K. Reuss
Jim Reuss has an extensive background and experience in litigating civil actions in the areas of foodborne illness liability, product liability, medical malpractice, toxic tort, and a wide variety of other complex commercial litigation. He has served as lead counsel in over forty jury trials in federal and state courts, both within and outside Ohio and is listed in Ohio Super Lawyers.
In the area of foodborne illness litigation, Jim has served as special coordinating counsel for various food retailers and manufacturers in the defense of food product liability claims and litigation in several states, including Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Missouri, Texas, Florida, California, Washington, Minnesota, Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico, and has defended several serious foodborne outbreak claims and lawsuits in the context of Class I recalls. He has advised company management on the protocols for product sampling and preservation and the retention of corporate documents in connection with Class I recalls.
Jim's product liability practice has included the defense of manufacturers of a wide variety of industrial equipment, including industrial conveyor systems, palatizers, mixers and reactors, forklifts and industrial trucks, industrial saws, and coal mine equipment. He has also defended several manufacturers of automotive and consumer products in product liability claims involving motor vehicles, motor homes, baby cribs, kitchen appliances, paint and coating products, and hair care products. He has also been involved in the defense of product liability claims involving pharmaceutical products, including fertility drugs and smoking cessation drugs.
Jim has served as an active member of The Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel and the Defense Research Institute, as well as the Ohio Association of Civil Trial Attorneys. In connection with his focus in foodborne illness litigation, Jim is a member of the International Association for Food Protection and the Conference for Food Protection.
Jim and his wife, Faye, have a daughter and a son, and Jim enjoys travel and golf in his spare time.
