Candice L. Kline
Candice Kline is a business attorney and commercial litigator with years of commercial banking and management experience before entering the legal profession. Her practical business perspective informs her legal approach and commitment to client service.
Candice focuses her practice on bankruptcy and insolvency matters, corporate restructuring, and commercial disputes, and is a director and officer of the Turnaround Management Association's Chicago/Midwest Chapter. Her past representations include creditors, debtors, receivers, private equity, hedge funds, and asset purchasers involved in chapter 7, 11, and 15 proceedings and out-of-court workouts. Her banking background aligns well with debtor-in-possession (DIP) and exit financing, treasury management, and other financial transactions integral to the restructuring process. In her recent cases, Candice has negotiated complex settlements, litigated fraudulent transfers and denial of discharge, and resolved insolvency-related contractual disputes. Before joining Carpenter Lipps & Leland LLP, Candice was a member of the global corporate reorganization and bankruptcy practice of Sidley Austin LLP based in Chicago.
Candice holds an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago, having started her career with the First National Bank of Chicago as a First Scholar. During her banking career, she held progressively-responsible management positions with global commercial banks in Chicago and New York. Leveraging her interest in global trade and supply chain, Candice also served as the Chief Development Officer of a global logistics technology start-up. She is committed to nonprofit development through pro bono and director-level service, and is a director of the American Constitution Society, Chicago Lawyer Chapter.
Candice is a Northwest Ohio native and Great Lakes enthusiast who splits her time between Chicago and her residence in historic Maumee, Ohio.
