Kort W. Gatterdam
Kort Gatterdam heads the Firm's expanding white collar/criminal defense practice as one of Ohio's preeminent criminal defense lawyers. Kort has 28 years of trial and appellate experience in criminal proceedings in state and federal courts in Ohio, having represented public officials, companies, and private individuals in a variety of criminal matters. Kort's practice includes representation in Municipal Court, Common Pleas Court, the Court of Appeals, the Ohio Supreme Court and all levels of Federal Court. He is certified by the Ohio Supreme Court as lead counsel in death penalty cases, and has tried numerous high-profile death penalty cases to verdict at the state and federal level.
Kort is on the Facility Governing Board for the Franklin County Community Based Correctional Facility which treats men and women with alcohol and substance abuse issues. Kort was appointed by the Governor to the Ohio Criminal Sentencing Commission responsible for studying and recommending changes in Ohio's criminal code to the legislature. Kort served on the sentencing commission from 2009-2016. Kort is also a speaker at seminars across Ohio on criminal defense issues including the death penalty.
In his spare time, Kort enjoys playing ice hockey, golf, and softball. Kort and his wife are the proud parents of two sons.
