Jennifer A. L. Battle
Jen Battle has extensive litigation and trial experience in a wide range of complex commercial matters. These include financial services litigation, securities litigation, insurance coverage litigation, mortgage industry litigation, bankruptcy litigation, toxic tort and medical monitoring, class action litigation and settlement administration matters, multi-district litigation, and executive employment litigation matters. Her commercial litigation work includes representing both plaintiffs and defendants, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to individuals. Jen has also represented both corporate and individual defendants in criminal and government investigation matters. She is experienced in handing administrative proceedings, arbitrations, mediations, preliminary injunctions, and other state and federal trial court matters. Jen also has substantial appellate experience, briefing and arguing cases before the Ohio and Pennsylvania appellate courts, the Third and Sixth Circuit Courts of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.
In addition to her litigation work, Jen routinely counsels clients on electronic discovery issues and document retention best practices, and has extensive experience with forensic electronic data issues in both the discovery and trial contexts. Her experience ranges from presenting expert testimony on forensic investigation issues in data breach/corporate theft matters to overseeing large-scale complex e-discovery collection and review projects. She is a member of Working Group 1 of the Sedona Conference.
Jen has been named an Ohio Super Lawyers "Rising Star" in litigation for three consecutive years. She is actively involved with the Ohio Women's Bar Association, and is a member of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Central Ohio (APABA-CO). Prior to joining Carpenter Lipps & Leland, Jen practiced as a litigator in Philadelphia where she was named a Lawyer on the Fast Track by The Legal Intelligencer and the Pennsylvania Law Weekly, and was twice named a Pennsylvania "Rising Star" in general litigation by the publishers of Super Lawyers and Law & Politics. While in Philadelphia, she served on the board of Musicopia, an organization devoted to enhancing music education in underserved schools, played the violin in the Lansdowne Symphony Orchestra, and was active in the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Pennsylvania.
Jen is originally from Honolulu, Hawaii and now lives with her husband and three sons in Worthington, Ohio. She serves on the St. Michael Parish Finance Council and, in her spare time, enjoys cooking, running, and playing the violin and piano.
